Another year means a fresh start, a new beginning. Over the years I have consistently begun a scriptural reading plan often with a devotion aid. This year is no different. I have created a Bible reading plan that is a bit different than what has been typical for me. My plan is to read through the seven different portions of scripture during a week as follows; the Epistles, the Law, History, Psalms, Poetry, Prophecy, and the Gospels.
To be honest my personal Bible reading has lacked the warmth and love for Jesus that ought to be present. In some of my recent reading, I was convicted by John 14:9. “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip?”
During 2019 our current local church has a theme of “Face to Face with Jesus” which is designed to emphasize a spiritually vibrant relationship with Jesus through abiding in the Word. Thus Philippians 3:10 is going to be my reminder for my personal reading schedule.
In the past, I have written a short overview and personal thoughts on a daily basis, but the writing can easily become the focus rather than a fresh, loving, and vibrant relationship with Jesus. So as I begin this new reading schedule I plan to share some thoughts in order to encourage others in their scriptural reading and love of Christ, but I will not be a slave to journaling.
In reference to being a slave, I recently have made some personal technology changes, which were hindering my most vital relationships. The most significant being deleting the Facebook app from my phone and so far it has been very rewarding.
